Happy New Year 2010
The next committee meeting will be held in Otago February 20th. The major items on the agenda will include a possible move to be recognised and associated to the N.Z.K.C. and becoming an Incorporated Society. A copy of the meeting minutes will be available to any club member upon request to the secretary from the 27th of February.
* The History
The very early history of Swedish Vallhunds in New Zealand has been for the last few months carefully researched and written up. There is still a way to go before this project in completed, but the first half may be found here under the history tab. The account includes not seen before photos of the very first Swedish Vallhund to arrive in New Zealand in 1975, & puppies from the first litter. Also read about the impressive dogs owned by Lesley and Ian Gray of the Valdemar Kennel. The club looks forward to continuing with this comprehensive account of the history in the next few weeks. Preserving this early information is important and recognises the achievements and efforts of the pioneering breeders and owners.
With the sending out of the club's first magazine/newsletter we called on people to join the club. We have to date approved approximately 100 applications to join. Before the next magazine mail out, the intention is to contact by phone the remaining people to ask if they wish to join and following this phone-around we will have our foundation membership to move forward with. This is a healthy and cheerful start to a small club with a rare breed. We welcome eveyone and look forward to an exciting 2010 serving and representing Swedish Vallhund owners in New Zealand.
