1939 - 2010
Mrs Rose Madsen collecting Ausled Classic Cangaroo from the Auckland airport in 2003 Rose's love for her dogs and for the breed evident in the above photo. Rose owned Valkrista Kennel, and lived in Managwhai with her husband Hans and surrounded by her Swedish Vallhunds until the 8th of August 2010 when, after a difficult and long battle with cancer she slipped away in her sleep. Rose was an enthusiastic supporter of the breeders in New Zealand, sharing her bloodlines and dogs with others, and sharing her knowledge and love of her favourite dog breed. She was gifted Life Membership to the Swedish Vallhund Club in 2009 when the Swedish Vallhund community gathered in Pokeno to remember Mrs, Lesley Grey, another respected pioneer of our breed. Rose is to go down in Swedish Vallhund history for many firsts and positive things including being one of our club's foundation members, signatory to the impending incorporation of the club, and also as our first Patron. Her support was of no surprise, Rose was very active lady serving on many committees and contributing as a well known and well liked member of her wider community beyond the dog world.
She will be very much missed.
